Searching Civil Cases
Most of our civil case data is stored in a system called Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC). Attorneys and Individuals can subscribe to MEC to search our records at their location. Individuals can also come into the courthouse and use our public inquiry terminals to search MEC records. Online MEC searching does require an annual subscription fee as well as a per copy fee. Older cases (prior to 1960s) can be searched in the office using our index books. Follow this link to register for an MEC account.
If you cannot perform the search yourself and you would like the Chancery Clerk's office to search the civil case data, please complete a search request on our website or email your request to our office or complete this search form. Our office charges a $10 search fee. You can use this link to pay the search fee online or you can mail in a payment using check or money order to PO Box 949, Hernando, MS 38632.
Customers wishing to use a credit card will have to pay a 2.5% convenience fee. That fee is paid to the processing company directly and will show as a separate charge. If you have any questions contact our office by phone 662-469-8398 or email the Chancery Court Office.
Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC)
All case information (except that which is sealed by the court) is available in our office or through Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC). There are public terminals available for use in our office for those that do not have access to MEC.
